About Beya jiménez
I am a strategist, urban planner, and community connector working at the intersection of community, culture, and social change.
I have 15+ years of experience leading and creating change.
As a community organizer and political campaign manager in my hometown of Lawrence, Massachusetts, I worked alongside residents, advocates + local leaders and witnessed both the power of collective action and the structural barriers that prevent communities from thriving. Those early experiences sparked a lifelong commitment to equity, housing justice, civic participation, and community-led change.
I came to Boston to study urban planning and deepen my understanding of the systems that shape our lives, and was part of a key team of students, community leaders, and educators that influenced the Boston 2030 strategic plan. As I explored the roots of poverty, racism, housing inequities, and economic segregation, I became increasingly interested in the question that continues to guide my work today: What does it take for communities to truly thrive?
My path soon took me beyond Boston. In Copenhagen, Denmark, I led a transit equity project that revealed the transformative potential of public policy when designed around people's everyday lives. In Cartagena, Colombia, I learned from artists + cultural leaders using creativity to support neighborhood revitalization and collective healing. Across borders + communities, I began to recognize common threads: thriving communities are built through belonging, responsive institutions, cultural vitality, and the courage to address historic and present-day inequities.
Over the past fifteen years, I have organized political campaigns, led housing + transit justice initiatives, coordinated statewide conferences, facilitated community coalitions, and served in public leadership roles advancing fair housing, rent stabilization, and community accountability. I have founded + led movement-building organizations, including a statewide coalition where I served as founding board chair for four years, bringing together advocates, practitioners, and residents around a shared vision for housing justice.
Today, my work spans strategic planning, facilitation, community engagement, and organizational development. I have partnered with community land trusts, arts and cultural institutions, higher education organizations, and public agencies to design collaborative processes that build trust, foster alignment, and move bold ideas into action.
My strategic planning approach helps organizations move beyond visioning and into implementation. I guide teams through clarifying priorities, identifying opportunities, and developing actionable roadmaps that connect long-term goals with day-to-day decision-making. By creating space for reflection, collaboration, and accountability, I help organizations translate ideas into meaningful outcomes + sustainable impact for the communities they serve.
My approach is rooted in the belief that those most impacted by a challenge hold essential wisdom about its solutions.
Alongside my consulting and planning work, I am also an artist, writer, and curator. Through Connecting with Our Ancestral Lineages, a community-based series I created, I explore how diasporic communities preserve memory, identity, and belonging through storytelling, foodways, ritual, and cultural practice. This work reflects a growing commitment to the role of culture, creativity, and remembrance in shaping more just + connected futures.
Whether I am facilitating a strategic planning process, designing a retreat, speaking with community leaders, or gathering people around a shared table, my work is grounded in a simple belief:
A better world is possible when we create the conditions for people and communities to thrive.
Creating with me will ensure you are not missing the opportunity for deep connectedness, joyful collaboration + the chance to reimagine what equity, leadership + thriving communities can truly look like.
